Know what? Screw a bunch of theme days. Between days off, forgetting to post, and occasionally just having nothing to say on a given topic, I’m just gonna post whatever, regardless of day.
I may, however, maintain the End of the Work Week Wisdom, because I do like that. 🙂
So yeah, Bobert and I went to see “The Libertine” last night, because I had read the IMDB blurb on it last week… and as we’re both big Johnny Depp fans, it seemed like the thing to do.
I really liked it a lot, as did he. It’s about the Earl of Rochester, who was, in a lot of ways, sort of a British version of the Marquis de Sade. Obviously not identical, but you get the basic idea. But whereas “Quills” was a moderately good movie (IMHO) about the Marquis, this was a WONDERFUL movie about the Earl of Rochester, complete with 17th century British politics, plays, and syphillis. Whee! 🙂
It probably helped matters considerably that one of the characters, an actress, was rehearsing to play Ophelia in the movie. And I love Ophelia. 🙂
And Johnny Depp has the most amazing cheekbones known to humankind. Seriously. Amazing. 🙂
So yeah, that was definitely a nice little surprise, in a year when I pretty much think that I don’t want to see a whole lot of movies… not because I don’t like movies (you know I do), but because there aren’t many good ones coming out this year! I believe there are three or four more this year that I’m really looking forward to, and one that I will probably see because the premise is just that ridiculous. 🙂
